Dear Pine Street Family,
As you are undoubtedly aware, tomorrow marks the beginning of Gov. Wolf’s plan to begin re-opening Pennsylvania. Lycoming County is considered a yellow county. This means that the shelter at home order has been lifted and many retailers will reopen.
This does not mean that the threat of Covid-19 is gone. Many business like gyms, hairdressers, etc will remain closed. Even places that are open will not be able to return to “business as usual.” People are encouraged to continue wearing masks. People should continue to practice distancing of 6 feet. The number of people inside of a store will be monitored. Gatherings of more than 25 people are highly discouraged.
The leadership of Pine Street UMC has been doing our best to stay on top of recommendations and practices to ensure the safety and health of our members and our community. While many places in Pa are reopening, we do not feel that at this time it is in the interest of our members or community for us to reopen and resume worshiping in our building. Many members of our Pine Street family are among the most vulnerable, and others interact with the vulnerable on a daily basis. We will remain “closed” until at least June 1st.
We know that this is disappointing and difficult for many people. While we wait to reopen, we will continue to offer the online services as well as the radio broadcast.
Thank you for your prayers, patience and understanding during these times.

By now word has spread, that at the urging of our national, state, community and even church leaders, we have decided to suspend all activities in our building, including Sunday morning worship, until at least April 5th. We will continue to monitor the situation and will do our best to keep you informed as future decisions are made. We may not be able to physically gather in one space, but, we can still gather in spirit to worship. We are in the process of preparing a worship service that you can access while in the comfort of your own home. We will be returning the radio this Sunday at 11:00. Tune into WWPA at 101.7 FM, 1340 AM or WILQ HD 3 to hear the service. (Please note the change of FM frequency). We are also working to have a version of the service available on our web page.
